From Last Time… “As many of you know, I love finding fun and unique bags for the Coach Archive in NYC. I thought it would be fun to start showing bags that I have acquired for them as TBT posts. Once they reach the Archive, they’re cataloged and displayed and the public rarely gets to see them from that point. This way, it’s like a preview showing!”
This is such a great and rare bag! There was a version of this done in lightweight canvas, but the only other boucle version of this bag is housed in The Museum of FIT in NYC. The FIT bag has tubular straps, but is otherwise the same bag. This bag was designed in 1964 by Bonnie Cashin using a “slubbed linen” aka boucle fabric that was designed by Dorothy Liebes. The Archive is very fortunate to get this beautiful girl. It doesn’t have its original tags but shows virtually no signs of use. I built a form for it as it had lost its beautiful shape. Other than reshaping, this bag didn’t need anything done restoration-wise. Enjoy!
